Vernissage

When art sparks your curiosity,
this is where you go first.

Look up artists and artworks, save the ones you love, and keep a journal of everything you see.

See it, sort it,
save it, find it again

What was that painting called? Who is this artist? Whenever the question pops up, just open the search. It pulls together artists, artworks, exhibitions and museums from sources in Korea and around the world, and the home screen shows you exhibitions worth catching today.

On your way out of the gallery, while the work is still fresh in your mind, jot down the date, a photo and a few words. Even if an exhibition or artwork isn't in the search, you can add it yourself and log it on the spot.

Heart the artworks and artists that stay with you, and come back to them whenever you like. One discovery and one entry at a time, it all adds up to an art archive that's entirely yours. Getting started is easy: just sign in with Apple, Google, Kakao or Naver.

Frequently asked questions

What is Vernissage?

Vernissage is an art information hub app. Look up artists, artworks, exhibitions and museums, save the ones you love, and record what you've seen with photos and notes.

Can I search if I only vaguely remember the name?

Yes. You don't need the exact title or spelling, just type whatever comes to mind. Vernissage searches sources from Korea and around the world in one go, including artist data from Wikidata, the collection of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) and the Korean Arts Digital Archive.

How do I get started?

Sign in with Apple, Google, Kakao or Naver, then look up an artist or exhibition you're curious about, or log something you saw today. One photo and a single line is all it takes.

Can I log an exhibition or artwork that isn't in the search results?

Yes. You can add museums, exhibitions, artworks and artists yourself and log them right away. Keep the name, date, photos and your thoughts, as much or as little as you like.

How do I find museums and exhibitions nearby?

Browse museums and galleries around you on the art & culture map, or search exhibitions, artists and artworks by name. It's also handy when you're just looking for somewhere to go next.

Where can I find the things I've saved and the entries I've written?

Tap the heart on any artwork, artist, exhibition or museum to keep it in Saved. Everything you write is gathered in the Journal tab, in date order.

What are docent stories?

Docent stories are short reads that unpack the context and stories behind artworks and artists, so you can look a little closer. Each time you open the app, they're a jumping-off point for discovering a new artist or artwork.
